About John de Triquet

Who is John de Triquet?

John is a pediatrician who has been practicing medicine for over 40 years. He received his medical degree from Temple University Medical School and successfully completed his residency in Pediatrics in 1978. For the past 35 years he has been on the medical staff of CHKD. John was instrumental in establishing the Emergency Pediatrics Department and the Child Abuse Center of Hampton Roads. He has also served as the Chief of the Department of Pediatrics and has served on committees at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Currently, John is in private practice in Chesapeake with Pediatric Specialists.

He has been fortunate to have Carole, his wife and best friend, as a partner for more than 50 years. He has two adult children, Christine and John, who are a source of love and pride for him and Carole.

John was first elected to City Council in 1994 and currently serves as Vice Mayor.

As Vice Mayor, he has also supervised Boards and Commissions appointments and selected City Staff evaluations.

In 2010 John was appointed to the Board of Health of the Commonwealth of Virginia and served until 2015.

John is an 11-year veteran of the United States Navy with a discharge rank of Commander. He served on operational tours during his military career, received the Navy Commendation Medal, and is a member of American Legion Post 280.

Most recently, John was honored as a Healthcare Hero by Inside Business.

John and Carole first came to Western Branch in 1976 and, with the exception of two years spent on a tour of duty in Keflavik, Iceland, have resided in Western Branch ever since.
